John Muir Award - Coventry Provider Workshop
The United Nations Association (UNA) - Coventry Branch, in collaboration with local environmental partners, is proud to present the John Muir Award Provider Workshop. This session is specifically designed for educators, youth workers, and community leaders within the Coventry area who are passionate about connecting people with the wild places of our city and beyond.
The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It encourages people from all backgrounds to connect with, enjoy, and care for nature. This workshop serves as a comprehensive "Train the Provider" session, giving participants the tools, resources, and confidence to deliver the award within their own organizations.
Why Attend? As Coventry continues its journey as a City of Peace and Reconciliation, environmental stewardship remains a core pillar of our community's growth. By becoming a John Muir Award provider, you contribute to a global movement of nature conservation and sustainability. This workshop covers the four main challenges of the award:
Discover a wild place.
Explore its natural wonders.
Conserve its biodiversity.
Share your experiences with the community.
Attendees will receive guided instruction on how to tailor the award for different age groups, particularly focusing on youth engagement and social inclusion. The session will explore local "wild spaces" in Coventry, from urban parks to hidden nature reserves, demonstrating how even the most urban environments can provide rich ecological learning.
The workshop is interactive and hands-on. You will learn about the registration process, how to assess participants’ progress, and how to integrate the award into existing school curricula or youth programs. By the end of the session, you will be a certified provider, ready to inspire the next generation of environmental guardians in Coventry. Join us in fostering a deeper connection between the citizens of Coventry and the natural world that sustains us.
