Adrian Lester’s Cyrano de Bergerac Moves to West End 2026

Adrian Lester-Led Cyrano de Bergerac Will Transfer to London's West End

Following a triumphant, sold-out run at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, the critically acclaimed production of Cyrano de Bergerac is officially heading to London. Olivier Award-winner Adrian Lester will reprise his magnetic title role for a strictly limited engagement at the Noël Coward Theatre from June 13 to September 5, 2026.

A Modern Reimagining of a Classic

This production is not your standard period piece. Co-adapted by director Simon Evans (Staged) and acclaimed grime poet Debris Stevenson (Poet in Da Corner), this version of Edmond Rostand’s 1897 masterpiece breathes new life into the story. While Lester does don a prosthetic nose, the play is celebrated for its "joyful lyricism" and a script that crackles with contemporary energy and verse.

The story remains as poignant as ever: Cyrano, a brilliant soldier and poet, is paralyzed by his own insecurities regarding his appearance. When the woman he loves, the beautiful Roxane, falls for the handsome but tongue-tied Christian, Cyrano offers his poetic genius to help the young man woo her—leading to a "hilariously funny and ultimately heartbreaking" love triangle.
