The Glasgow Net Zero Academy is a flagship initiative designed by Scottish Enterprise to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the critical tools needed to navigate the transition to a low-carbon economy. This intensive programme is structured as a series of three half-day in-person workshops, specifically aimed at businesses with ten or more employees. Participants will move beyond theoretical understanding to practical application, conducting a deep dive into their current carbon footprint. The curriculum covers the essential definitions of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, ensuring that business leaders can accurately measure their environmental impact across the entire value chain.
Throughout the sessions, experts will guide attendees through a baseline review of their current operations, identifying high-impact areas for reduction. The ultimate output of the academy is a personalized Net Zero Action Plan. This plan is not just an environmental statement but a strategic business document designed to meet the increasing demands of green procurement from customers, requirements from investors, and future government regulations. By the end of the workshops, delegates will be able to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) objectives for their business. Furthermore, the programme is accredited by the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP), allowing participants to claim Continued Professional Development (CPD) credits upon successful completion. This is a vital opportunity for Glasgow-based firms to future-proof their operations while contributing to Scotlandâs national goal of reaching net zero by 2045.
