Complete Details

Leadership in primary science requires a unique blend of pedagogical knowledge and strategic vision. The Association for Science Education presents this Masterclass in Liverpool to empower Primary Science Leads to raise the profile of the subject within their schools. This intensive session dives deep into the "Science Capital" teaching approach, helping educators understand how to make science more accessible and relevant to children from all backgrounds. The masterclass will provide participants with a toolkit of resources to lead staff meetings, conduct effective work trawls, and monitor the impact of science teaching across the Early Years and Key Stages 1 and 2.

Participants will explore the latest findings from the OFSTED Science Subject Report and learn how to align their school's curriculum with national expectations for excellence. A significant portion of the afternoon will be dedicated to "cross-curricular science," demonstrating how to weave scientific inquiry into literacy and mathematics lessons without losing the rigor of the scientific method. By the end of the day, every attendee will have drafted a bespoke Action Plan for their school, backed by evidence-based strategies shared by the ASE's primary specialists. This event is not just about teaching science; it is about leading a culture of curiosity and excellence that inspires the next generation of scientists.
